What is the College News?
The College News is our fortnightly newsletter that is distributed on a Thursday afternoon via email and shared on our website and the App. Important events, student achievements, happenings at the College, Head of School reports and more are shared in this publication, and it is one of the main ways we aim to keep parents informed.
Does the College have an App?
Yes. The App is a must-have, and it is easy to use. It has a link to the most up-to-date calendar, notices are published here (including last-minute announcements like buses running late, excursion return time, etc), and absences can be recorded.
What is Consent 2 Go?
Consent2Go is the digital platform we use to help you keep your child’s health records accurate and provide consent for school events, excursions and camps in a secure and timely manner. You will receive an email inviting you to confirm your contact information and your child's medical details. There is also an App you can download.
What is SEQTA Engage and who is it for?
SEQTA Engage is a tool for parents to have an overview of their child’s learning and assessments and provides parents with access to key information. SEQTA Engage will be accessed via a portal and an app. It is available to parent of students in Years Six to Twelve.
Does the College have a Facebook and Instagram page?
Yes, the College shares student achievements and activities, classroom learning, events and more on our social pages. Please like our pages to stay informed.

Parents Facebook Group

There are membership questions that must be answered before being accepted into the group.

How do I get in touch with teachers?
The best way to get in touch with classroom teachers is via email within work hours. As teachers are generally teaching most of the day, they will endeavour to get back to parents in a timely manner.
All email addresses at Cathedral College are the first letter of the staff members' name and surname, e.g. kcairncross@cathedralcollege.vic.edu.au.
Will the College share images of my child?
There are many occasions during the school year when staff photograph, film, or record students participating in school activities or events, for example, classroom activities, sports events, concerts, excursions, camps, etc. We do this for many reasons, including celebrating student participation and achievement, showcasing particular learning programs, documenting a student’s learning journey/camps/excursions/sports events, communicating with our parents/carers and the school community in newsletters and on our website, etc. On the enrolment agreement there is a section that relates to permissions that states:
‘We hereby allow/disallow (please circle the applicable) my son’s/daughter’s name, photograph and inclusion in College produced videos to be used in print and online College promotional publications, and as may be possible from time to time, the Colleges official social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram) and the media, including local papers. I understand I can withdraw the above consent at any time by advising the College in writing’.
Every year, in the first 3 College News editions, parents and carers are invited to update or change these permissions in writing. These permissions can be changed at any time.
How can I be involved in my child’s school life and the community?
Many parents are involved in the life of the College. It is an excellent way to contribute to the school and support the students’ learning, and it allows for opportunities for social connection with other school parents. The Parents and Friends Association is made up of parents within the College community who work together for the benefit of all students at our school. The P & F meet once a month in the Chapel Meeting Room. Meetings are from 6.30 - 7.30 pm and are on the first Tuesday of the month.
