Cathedral College Wangaratta is an Independent, Anglican Prep to Year Twelve School with a current enrolment of over 1,000 students. Our aim is to ensure that each student who walks through our gates leaves with the tools they need to be the best they can be.

But what is it exactly, that distinguishes, and contributes to, a ‘Cathedral’ Education?

‘The Cathedral Way’ – our culture

At CCW, we all contribute to a nurturing, safe and connected school environment and from Prep, our students learn ‘The Cathedral Way’. We expect all members of our community to uphold our values and ethos. The Cathedral Way is measured by actions, not words. It is, for example, wearing The College Uniform with pride. It is valuing diversity and individuality and being inclusive. It is demonstrating respect, kindness, and care.

Caring for the individual

Well-being is a priority at Cathedral College Wangaratta. Parents can be confident that their child is known well in our school. Students enjoy the benefits of having a pastoral care structure with student well-being at its core. As a Christian school in the Anglican tradition, we are guided and supported by our Chaplains and an experienced and dedicated wellbeing team.

Outstanding facilities

The College’s Murdoch Road campus is a sprawling site that has been carefully planned and designed. Facilities include a purpose-built VCE Centre, designated sub-school hubs, STEAM Laboratories, an Arts precinct and state of the art sporting facilities (including a stadium, hockey pitch, tennis and netball courts and a full-size oval). The College is currently building a Chapel and plans are underway to build a soccer pitch.

Innovative programs

The College caters for a modern, relevant, and dynamic curriculum that is aimed to challenge our students to think creatively, critically, and ethically. Our subject offerings are carefully considered and designed to cater for a range of learning styles and interests.  There is depth and breadth in our VCE offerings with a focus on pathways and preparing students for life beyond school. This year, The College launched the CCWSA (Cathedral College Sports Academy). The academy aims to assist talented student-athletes to achieve at the highest levels of performance through providing an elite environment and learning opportunities.

Cross-Age learning experiences and education

The College offers the advantage of continuity in education from Prep to Year Twelve. Students benefit from an integrated curriculum and a House system that fosters friendships and peer mentoring. To give students a strong bond with our community, fortnightly House sessions enable students of all ages to participate in special occasions such as House Music, House Cross Country, House Sports and House Assemblies.

Regionality

70% of the student population travel to The College via bus. There is no doubt that CCW’s culture is a result of students coming from the various regional communities The College services. We are very conscious of providing a sense of community within a community in these towns and host coffee and catch up opportunities and other events to keep our regional families connected.

Providing opportunities

Our co-curricular program is diverse and dynamic.  Students gain a sense of their place in the world and how they can make meaningful contributions to society. We offer co-curricular activities in many areas including the Performing Arts, Music, Sport, Art, Cultural Exchange, Social Justice, STEAM, Academic Extension and Leadership.
