As a Prep to Year Twelve school, Cathedral College Wangaratta is able to ensure the highest possible educational outcomes of our students by providing a sequential and progressive curriculum which effectively enhances our teaching and learning programs. The academic care of every student is the highest priority and our staff are committed to ensuring the most effective learning environment for all students.
Across all year levels, teachers gather evidence of learning through formal assessments and informal teacher or student directed activities to help determine the content, learning experiences and instruction which will guide and clarify student learning and understanding. Further, this information can be used by students and teachers to plan the next steps in learning and adjust future learning experiences to meet the needs of the students where appropriate.
With distinct Junior, Middle and Senior schools, the curriculum is specifically designed to meet and expand on the Australian National Curriculum whilst acknowledging the students’ past and current learning interests, needs and experiences. By knowing our students, we can build on their skills and develop important steps at each stage of their education, monitoring closely the individual successes and offering a broad and differentiated curriculum from their first lesson in the Junior School to their last lesson in the Senior School.
Attention is paid to engaging students in their learning whether through interest or challenge. Students are exposed to the opportunities to think critically, think on their feet, persist intelligently with difficult things and to seek and value feedback.
We want all our students to leave Cathedral College Wangaratta challenged, to have fostered a will to learn, and to have had a well rounded and informed exposure to knowledge and skills.
