Languages
In today’s increasingly interconnected and interdependent world, proficiency in other languages is a vital skill that gives students the opportunity to engage with the world in a more immediate and meaningful way while better preparing them to succeed in an increasingly global economy.
Language studies not only provide students with the skills to speak, write and read a foreign language but also give an insight into the history, lifestyle and culture of societies where the language is used. Studying a language can broaden a student’s view of the world and open their eyes to cultures and societies outside of Australia.
German and Indonesian
A Language Other Than English is an elective subject in Years Nine and Ten. Students who have studied German or Indonesian in Years Seven and Eight may continue their study of a second language throughout the senior years of schooling and elect to study the language at VCE in Years Eleven and Twelve.
